Behind Closed Doors (and Quakers)

Hi Keith
Thankyou very much for your post about Quakers. I have saved your post to look at some of the sites very soon.

Recently my attention was directed to a new book out called "Behind Closed Doors" by Ngaire Thomas. She was born and raised in New Zealand, in a church called "Exclusive Brethren" and left it later in life. She is now a Quaker in Australia somewhere.

I would think the book is extremely contraversial......... and in fact I myself purchased it and have been enjoying reading it. My husband was raised in an area where there was a large "settlement" of Exclusive Brethren. This woman, Ngaire, says she is not out to be nasty etc, but just to present facts.

You can read quite a lot in her interviews with the Dominion, the NZ Women's Weekly, and the Chronicle. Because these are pdf filds, the links don't seem to work! Never mind, they are on the web page.

Thankyou again
Carol

Accountability

In Aust we are getting ready for the Sensis which is done every few years. Many people get upset about filling out the forms as they don't want 'Big brother' to know what they do with their money etc etc. I personally do not have a problem filling out the forms. I've actually applied to be one of the people to drop off the forms, but doubt if I'll get it. There are 28 applicants for 9 positions in this area. It's good money though. Not bad to work for the Governemnt occasionally! Good money too if you work on Voting day by marking off the 'votees'. I've never had the privilege of doing that and have often wondered how people get these jobs.

One day when I was in the theatre a film was advertised called "The Omen". I gather it would be a rerun of the one done several years ago, but of course it will be much more graphic. It was interesting, and a little spine chilling, the way it was put across, saying that there would be a time when Satan would come to this earth and that on 060606 this film would be released.
Now being a pre-mill at heart I feel that there is a significance in the number 666, and I do believe that it is the number of satan. But at the same time the date of the sixth of June in 2006 means nothing to me. I'll be going about my work as usual, but I would have no trouble believing that people involved in the occult (of which there are heaps) will have certain rituals on this day.
The Bible is the Inspired Word of God, but there are many mysteries in the Bible that we do not fully understand, and these mysteries will be made known to us at the right time. Many people have different interpretations of certain passages which are in conflict with others.
How wonderful to know that Christ is Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent, and that God judges fairly, for He knows our heart. He is the one we need to be accountable to.

Quakers

Hi Keith
Is there a site you can recommend which gives a factual view of the Quakers, their beliefs etc? Like most churches, there are a huge number of sites, but not many which tell the unvarnished truth about it! Just out of curiousity! Hope you are well? Yes, having group decisions resolved in a church is often left to a few people only, when it is good if more can be involved. Of course, prayer is the most help in resolving anything! Getting God's view on the matter in hand is the best view!!

Greetings to all!
Carol

Is anything new?

The solutions are obvious:
first the Americans put up a concrete fence to keep the mexicans out like the Israelis do with the arabs, these people south of the river are obviously sub-humans to be hated but to work in American factories and farms for very low wages;
the Quakers hold meting in the middle of January (winter) under an oak tree in the park;
and Geoff Williams has a few nice time sitting in the chair at home watching replays of his football team actually winning games, (like Uncle Albert does, and his team is actually winning games), and
we keep praying for the mighty Brisbaine Lions who ae not winning games.

Spare me from numbers rubbish. Yes in Revelation the beast in the vision had a number on its forehead, 6 or 66 or 666 perhaps. Now only one verse in the whole bible has this stuff, DO NOT create teachings or doctrines on just one verse, that's straight out of the best theological courses; also its purpose is to suggest that evil is 'short' of perfect where numbers associated with God and God's people run in sevens, twelves and 144.

I'll just go an watch a tape of the mighty Brisbaine Lions winning one of its recent premierships.

The night schoold course is going well, I'm still there which suggests that after a few stunning films on dementia that some have run away. True! This week I'm seeing people at and hostel and nursing home about 'placement' that is 4 weeks of unpaid work to learn, experience and do it. It may be an 'experience" too, it may well be.

blessings Gary

6th June 2006

OK I'm a slow thinker... probably everybody else here has realised about this date coming up since the calendar ticked over to 2006. But of course 06/06/06 (and for once it doesn't matter whether you're in Oz or the US of A, it's the same whether 06 precedes 06 or goes after) is the devil's number (dropping the 0's). And seems some are predicting strange and even cataclysmic happenings on that day. It's a Wednesday, so for me it will be work as usual, bible study or BSF questions in the evening, and the usual mid-week routine.

But there's a 'church of satan' (no less), and they're getting good mileage out of this looming inauspicious date. Including an article in today's Sunday Age (with a rather nauseating photo, if you care to look).
