A parent's worst nightmare
How my heart bleeds for the mother of Van Nguyen who is to die this Friday by hanging.
Yes, at last she and her other son (the twin of Van) have been able to visit their son and brother, which must be so bitter sweet for each one involved.
BUT - they cannot touch him.
All their contact is through toughened glass.
I can feel the ache in my own heart at not being able to hold my son. Surely it's not too much to ask for?
If this was happening to me - I'd go crazy.
I would need that one last, long, tight hug, when I could whisper in his ear how much I loved him.
Just writing this and thinking about it has brought tears to my eyes.
There are some people calling for Australia to have a minute of silence on friday when Van Nguyen is hung. I would not call for that, as what he did was so wrong even though it was for the right reasons. But be assured, my mind and heart will feel the ache for another mother.
I just pray that this young man has had a personal encounter with the Lord and that he would not go to a Christless eternity.
