God Spot
This Christian Resource Blog has been created by a group of friends from around the world. Our purpose is to provide links to useful resources, some commentary on topical or doctrinal issues, a place where anyone can come with questions and a means whereby we can share our faith. And above all, to grow and encourage each other. As Christians, we believe we bear God's image in this world, and seek to glorify God's name in this endeavour. Any Christian who wants to join with us is very welcome!

I'm popular

I once wrote that no people in the church wanted to talk to me, of course that's not true. The church fair is coming up and there is work to be done, lifting, getting out, setting up, then cleaning up, taking out the rubbish, moving things back, ah people want my ability. I could be, and actually will be a busy guy.

Otherwise I have no real news. My night school course is going well and now have to go to an aged care place to do 130 hours of free work experience, ther is one close to home and two others that are a long walk but possible for me in under 30 minutes. I'm still in the course, I'm sure that after a couple of stunning films on Alzhimer's Disease that a few 'ran away', oh well, they should have completed the course.

I will have another try to get into nursing at the end of the year and will do a couple of courses with St. Johns mainly the defribulation course, and the asthma management course.

My football team, the mighty Brisbane Lions need prayer. They are slow. Geoff's team is not much better.

I think that you are wrong

I have read what Shawn and Michele have written.

It is so easy to feel that we are not good Christians and that God is not blessing us, its so easy for speakers to work up guilt feelings in us. It is so easy for us to do too much to be tired and then depressed. The world tells us all sorts of wrong things, its so easy to start thinking in their terms, that we have to look after ourselves more.

You two are heros, (and I expect your spouses are heros too), we all are, having kept the faith through the years. We haven't had material success, I never will, and my retirement is certain to be a struggle on the pension, (if I can affoard to retire at all, I expect that it will be forced on me one day) I don't believe in the 'success gospel', I believe that us in the Christian life are bombarded constantaly by 'the world', though often temptations and wrongs pass us by without us knowing. keeping the faith is a success, the real success.

Now Shawn, Romans tells us that God withdraws his blessings on people who won't believe: I think he does on nations too.
