God Spot
This Christian Resource Blog has been created by a group of friends from around the world. Our purpose is to provide links to useful resources, some commentary on topical or doctrinal issues, a place where anyone can come with questions and a means whereby we can share our faith. And above all, to grow and encourage each other. As Christians, we believe we bear God's image in this world, and seek to glorify God's name in this endeavour. Any Christian who wants to join with us is very welcome!

It was blood and aweful

A couple of times Paul Barker has spoken on the sacrificial system and to illustrrate it he took a toy lamb and cut its throat with a knife and the added plenty of stage blood to show what a terrible sight and slaughter the sacrifices in the Temple were. The sounds and smells would have been something too. A quantity of blood has a quite unpleasant smell, even nauseating.

It was terrible today too, half the sound system didn't work in the church, and of course, I was on the roster to operate it. We got by with a radio microphone. The trials of modern technology, and churches skimping on the best of equipment! They wouldn't do that would they!

just do it

Ok so the debate about old bibles hasn't faded away yet. I will stay with a modern bible with good scholarship based on the best Greek and Hebrew texts. What did I read, something about a short range of words being good, how about a full range of the truth.

Anyway we just need to live the Christian life. That could be hard enough, no that is hard enough.

Now the truth is easy, to believe in Jesus the Christ the saviour from God the Father.

Where did the church get causght up with all these views of not-accepting people as they are, and calling their ways wrong and sinful. My church is going through a conservative patch, ah the righteous right and legalisms, no friends of mine.

daily reading

For over a year Shirley and I have been reading each day, Every Day with Jesus by Selwyn Hughes, and I get quite an amount from it in terms of readiang bible passages related to the theme he is expounding on and his thoughts. Selwyn is now an old man, plenty of experiences, and runs for a while with a theme he wants us readers to consider. There is a gentleness that I like and clearly an attempt to write something 'new'. (Yes that can be done, the faith may be 'old' but its a 'new' changing world out there each day).

What are other people reading and doing, Geoff too busy with BSF's demands? I'm sure David is super busy, so little contact with him, do you two have 'I am busier than you' contests, the clergy are always busy, asbsolutely. Shawn are just reading the KJV Bible, I can't understand it! Geoff I hope that you are not, the BSF manual says ...........

I must write something about Brother D the Franciscan one day.
